ABOUT

New Horizons is a successful twirling group in Rockland County, New York and has served hundreds of twirlers with our comprehensive full 10-month training program.  This program increases self-discipline, self-confidence, practice time, and the spirit of teamwork.  Keeping children involved in an organized activity during their pre-teen and teenage years promotes values that will influence their future as adults.  We encourage our twirlers to strive to meet their goals, while always playing by the rules and demonstrating respect for others.

Why Twirlers Twirl

The purpose of twirling is to encourage today's youth to grow both mentally and physically.  Students will gain more self-confidence and a sense of belonging.  Through the art of twirling and dance, your child will develop discipline, motivation and responsibility.  It also develops motor skills and eye-hand coordination, while increasing athletic ability.

What Twirlers Do

Students of baton twirling strive to achieve excellence and gain confidence athletically, emotionally and socially.  Baton twirlers participate in community parades and perform in competitions based on their age and skill level.  Baton twirling is internationally recognized.  Many prestigious universities offer scholarships to individual and group twirlers.

What Twirlers Need

A twirler needs to bring with her/him a positive attitude and the desire to learn.  Without these essential ingredients, a twirler will not effectively learn the art and sport of twirling.  A twirler also needs a regulation, baton, comfortable clothes for practice, and lace-up sneakers. Batons can be purchased from instructors.

How Twirlers Learn

Instructors for the New Horizons each have over 30 years of competitive twirling experience.  They hold local, state, regional, national and wold championship titles and are certified as National Baton Twirling Association and United States Twirling Association coaches and judges.  Twirlers participate in teams based on their age and skill set, while working through learned compulsory levels on an individual basis.
